Are there any discounts/coupons available for admisson to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio?
We will be going there soon, and I would appreciate any discount that I could receive on admission. Thanks a bunch! :)Are there any discounts/coupons available for admisson to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio?
If you have a military ID and show it at admission, you will get a discount. If you have a college ID they will give you a $2 discount.Don't think there are any other discounts available unless you want to go for 2 days and buy a two day ticket in advance. I looked up Ohio AAA and they don't offer a discount either. Are there any discounts/coupons available for admisson to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio?
i don't know about any coupons--but the place is totally worth the money you pay.try their website or something. Are there any discounts/coupons available for admisson to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio?
Well they used to have a deal where you can save some where between $2-$5 on admission if you took the RTA to the Rock hall, you have to show them your all day bus pass. I'm not sure if they still have this deal, you can call the RTA and find out if that's still available.

Are there anymore rock and roll stars or is everyone pop now?
is there any rock and roll bands anymore even rappers sound like pop stars now
I'm talking about mainstream musicAre there anymore rock and roll stars or is everyone pop now?
Foo Fighters, listen to their new album, it's pretty heavy:
Wastinglight.foofighters.com
You asked for stars - not bands people like. I'm not a big fan but U2 are probably one the biggest band in the world right now in terms of crowd pulling, ticket sales, record sales etc. Otherwise Bruce Springsteen still massive, Radiohead a massive following - none of which can be described as pop.Are there anymore rock and roll stars or is everyone pop now?
Jack White
Dan Auerbach
Dave Grohl
Scott Weiland
Mike Patton
Billie Joe Armstrong
Andrew Stockdale
Tim "Ripper" Owens (don't know if he counts as mainstream, though)
And as for bands, don't listen to what underground extremists say about mainstream rock, there's stil plenty of great mainstream rock bands around today...
The Black Keys
Stone Temple Pilots
A Perfect Circle
Wolfmother
CKY
Creed
Shinedown
Foo Fighters
The White Stripes
Jet
Velvet Revolver
Porcupine Tree
The Mars Volta
Blue Stahli
Plenty of mainstream Rock artists that don't sound anything remotely like pop.
Alice in Chains
Soundgarden
Stone Temple Pilots
Black Label Society
Metallica
Deftones
Tool
Foo Fighters
Yeah. Those are just off the top of my head...Are there anymore rock and roll stars or is everyone pop now?
Arcade Fire (won a Grammy "Best Album Of The Year" last year for their album "The Suburbs")
Shinedown
(both currently on billboard chart)
Nickelback
Three Days Grace
Breaking Benjamin
Theory Of A Deadman
dave grohl, foo fighters singer
he was the drummer for famous band Nirvana

this is a vector diagram question in statistics - eeew!!
well all of the numbers should add to 100. So there should be four categories, just classical, just rock and roll, both and neither.
Well immediately exclude neither because this is a mutually exclusive event - it affects none of the others and in your vector diagram it will be put into the empty box away from the circles.
100-5 = 95
This leaves you with 85 + 23. As you can see 85 + 23 does not equal 95, it equals 108.
108 - 95 = 13
This means that there is an excess of 13, so 13 students must like both as the numbers in each sector of the vector diagram must add to the number of people asked. One hundred students were asked if they like rock-and-roll music or classical music. The results were that 5 s
13 students because 5 students didnt like any, so that means that 95 liked something.
then, 85 liked rocknroll, and 23 liked classical
85+23=108.
so 108-95 (which is the number if students who liked something) equals 13

Jeans, black t-shirt, Leather Jacket with studs and patches of your favorite band.
Or camouflage shorts with combat boots, bullet belts, and a denim vest with studs and patches.

Who thinks that "If you dont' like Rock 'N' Roll" By Rainbow has a Jerry Lee Lewis feel?

What year is Public Enemy going to be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame?
Please, I have to know, they are my favorite rap group, and I think they deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. What year is Public Enemy going to be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame?
Public Enemy will be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013: Unless prior nominees the Beastie Boys or L.L. Cool J make it all the way over the next couple of years, Public Enemy will become the hall's third hip-hop act.
It's called the Rock and Roll hall of fame. I like oranges but oranges don't belong in the Rock and Roll hall of fame either. Besides, popularity should have no credence on legitimacy. There are plenty of artists whose careers have spanned decades that don't get recognition just because some label doesn't deem them "radio friendly". All I am saying is, I wouldn't lose sleep over it.What year is Public Enemy going to be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame?
Their not rock. They won't get into the Rock %26amp; Roll hall of fame, but I'm pretty sure they're already in the hip-hop hall of fame
Hopefully, never. What year is Public Enemy going to be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame?

Will The Jonas Brothers enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
i would expect so since the very concept of a rock and roll hall of fame is lame to begin with. Will The Jonas Brothers enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
Grand Master Flash and Madonna both got in, so I don't see why not.
If there's a good and loving God then they will not
(And Madonna is waaaaaay more talented and renowned than the Jonas bros...she's been second only to Michael Jackson over the past few decades)Will The Jonas Brothers enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
the rock and roll hall of fame has become a piece of ****
to answer your question..i'm sure they will
I hope not hahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaWill The Jonas Brothers enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
i would seriously hope not...
HEEELLL NOOOOO!!
Probably ,because rock n roll hall of fame is a freakin joke
HELL NO. If anyone that's in charge of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has any morals or good taste in music, they'd know that putting them in there would be the biggest mistake ever made. I mean come on. They're pop. Straight up. KISS didn't even make the Hall Of Fame yet. If they didn't, then the Jonas Brothers sure as hell DON'T belong there!
Sure they will. All they need to do is buy a ticket and walk in like every other tourist.
by the time they will be elligible, it will be the "coca cola rock and roll hall of fame sponsered by fed ex" and they will only let in artists who had a triple platinum album.
I am pretty sure they are all ready in! Jo Bros rule!
Yes but then they'll realized they were suppose to go next door to the Rock %26amp; Roll Hall of Shame instead.
Chances are, I will kill myself if they do..
i can't believe you could be so stupid to ask this question
of course Jonas Brothers will be in the hall of fame , they're the best thing ever
let's hope not! rock and roll hall of fame is for those whose contributions to music went beyond selling tons of records, concert tickets, and merchandise.
hell, even madonna has a more legit claim for being in the rock and roll hall of fame%26lt;swallows pride%26gt; because she made a lasting impact.
do you know why all the acts(or at least most of them)in the rock and roll hall of fame are there?because they did things in music that no one else had ever done before, they didn't just play the game, they changed the rules of the game and music as a whole is a better place for their having done the things they did.how exactly have the jonas brothers changed the game of music?from what i've seen all they've done is play by the rules.the greats who are in the hall of fame weren't afraid to take risks and think outside the box.sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't,but at least they had the guts to try.
so i guess the real question is why should the jonas brothers even be allowed into the rock and roll hall of fame?i mean what things have the jonas brothers done that will in less than 25 years say to those who are responsible for the hall of fame inductions say "i think we should induct the jonas's this year."
can anyone answer that?
Not in a millions years, dude. Not in a million years. If anything they'll appear in the Rock n' roll hall of Shame.
Help me destroy them before it is too late.florida drivers license
Grand Master Flash and Madonna both got in, so I don't see why not.

Where can we go to dance to old rock and roll in Fort Worth area?
Why don't you just invite everyone and crank up the tunes at your house? That's how I start a good party!
Am I the only one made uncomfortable hearing Rock and Roll Pt. 2 on the PA system at McDonald's???
Kids and Gary Glitter just seem like a bad combination. But then again, so do kids and the Hamburgler...Am I the only one made uncomfortable hearing Rock and Roll Pt. 2 on the PA system at McDonald's???
Rock and Roll Part 2 is still better than hearing "Beat It" on the PA system.
I'm still dying laughing about the freaking Hamburglar.
I'll probably get thumbs down, but i still like that song.
And before anyone judges me- do you still listen to Michael Jackson? Or watch Roman Polanski films...
You have to separate the man from their art IMO.Am I the only one made uncomfortable hearing Rock and Roll Pt. 2 on the PA system at McDonald's???
If you dyed his hair red he'd look exactly like Ronald.
don't forget Ronald...he always gave me the creeps...I have nothing..
Am I the only one made uncomfortable hearing Rock and Roll Pt. 2 on the PA system at McDonald's???
Yes, I do want fries with that, and a hot apple pie, and extra ketchup packets. Oh, and please let me pay in pennies.
I went to a McDonald's in Rome, Italy that had beer, karaoke and Gem眉se McNuggets. I was already drunk and singing when I got there, but those vegetable McNuggets were beyond amazing.
I was stuck in a drive thru and had to suffer through 20 minutes of 'Dora the Explorer'
Don't turn your back on Grimace. Just trust me on this.
I tried to sue McDonald's for making me fat. But the stupid judge ruled against me because I'm "not fat" and I live a "healthy lifestyle" or some such garbage.

Outline the roots and history of rock and roll from 1950's to 1960's?
Does this question mean I should produce an organizational outline? Or is there another type of outline used to answer a chronological question? How do I structure my answer in an outline to answer this question? I know the content of the answer just not the way to organize it.Outline the roots and history of rock and roll from 1950's to 1960's?
When bill haley's Rock Around the Clock hit the cinrmas it caused mayhem. Some cinemas refused to show it,beause of the effect it had on young people. Then came Chubby Checker,Fats Domino,Little Richard etc and of course Elvis. Then the Beatles arrived and the rest is history
I don't think outline is to be taken literally. Think in terms of themes rather than specific events or personalities. What influenced 50's music? Gospel, Blues, teenagers as a demographic, etc. The history requested, that's the detail part. I think a traditionally structured essay gets it done here. Good luck.Outline the roots and history of rock and roll from 1950's to 1960's?
Sounds chronological.
Well Rock and Roll actually can trace it's origins to the Church and Gospel Music which in turn inspired Jazz which brought forth the developement of Rockabilly and Rock and Roll.
Can't tell you specifically what Years these took place. It just basically progressed in that order.Outline the roots and history of rock and roll from 1950's to 1960's?
The only way I could figure to chart this would be to chart the influence of various precursors of rock and roll (jazz, chicago blues, delta blues, folk, bluegrass, country, gospel, white church music etc). Then list various artists in chronological order and run arrows to who or what influenced them.
For example, Chuck Berry was influenced by Chicago Blues and Louis Jordan (jazz %26amp; blues). Beatles were influenced by Berry, Eddie Cochran (country), etc. Oasis were influenced by Beatles

Where can i find rock and roll decor for a boys room?
http://www.garnethill.com/jump.jsp?itemI鈥?/a>
Or go to the Guitar Center and hang out with him! They will have posters and stuff, too. Affordable (and really cool!) bongos to lay around that can be played also.
shannon@blinds.comWhere can i find rock and roll decor for a boys room?
Go to your local goodwill or salvation army store and pick up a bunch of record albums. They are cheap, about 50 cents each. Then you can afix them directly to the wall with either small finishing nails in the corners or with some sort of adhesive on the back. I would use the nails so as to not destroy the wall and/or the album cover.
Definately get a black lite or two at your local walmart.
Also, pick up some cheap gutiars at the same second hand shops and use some sort of lighting to make them stand out.
I'd use dark colors like black and blue and contrast with some red and yellow.
Rope lighting would also look really cool, as well as those cool disco ball lights from the 70's.
Rock On!Where can i find rock and roll decor for a boys room?
A couple of months ago I saw a remodeling show where the designer redid a pad belonging to a couple of up-and-coming musicians. One of the things she did was mount brackets on the wall to hold and display the guitars. I imagine you can do the same, and get him to help you pick out a few posters.
Another thing my mother did for my nephew a few years ago was paint a mural on a wall. Is this something you want to try?Where can i find rock and roll decor for a boys room?
Actually HGTV is having a show on tonight "A Rock %26amp; Roll basement". They arefixing it up for a 14 year old girl, but you may want to get some ideas, I'm sure a lot of it will be unisex. On August 1st they will be doing a rock %26amp; Roll room for some college students.
Definitely check E-bay for cheap items.
I looked on Ebay and they have a few items that you may like--
There is a blow-up guitar, and a couple of clocks---
Look in the wall paper border area on ebay also--they may have some neat borders to help you as well!

Is guitar hero the downfall of rock and roll, or the evolution of rock and roll?
It's not the downfall of either. It's the downfall of people actually playing music, rather than using a plastic guitar. Is guitar hero the downfall of rock and roll, or the evolution of rock and roll?
Downfall of actual musical ability.
I'd call it more of an evolution. Guitar Hero is definitely not contributing to the downturn of listeners to rock music. If anything, it is helping it tenfold. More and more people are turned onto rock and roll because of music video games every day. To say otherwise would be foolish.
THOUGH, it is not creating many new artists, instead it's just opening more people up to the genre. So I guess there really is no "evolution", but more or less just a positive increase of listeners. Is guitar hero the downfall of rock and roll, or the evolution of rock and roll?
Neither.
It's simply a game.
Nothing more.
I know like 4 people who tried to play real guitar after having Guitar Hero for years, and they all immediately drop it after discovering it is 'too hard.' It's ridiculous. Maybe they feel they can express themselves musically through that game?Is guitar hero the downfall of rock and roll, or the evolution of rock and roll?
commercialization is always the landmark of decline
its the revival. Its the reason i got into it and am learning guitar
OMG last night I was at a party and an argument broke out over this very topic.
It is apples and oranges. Guitar hero is a game that rockets an individual immediately into rock star status! When the game ends, the accountant goes back to his boring 12 hour a day job, and his cat.
Rock and Roll will Never Die.
There are only a handful that become legends and if guitar hero gets you there for a couple of hours; what the hey. It beats the heck out of the famed "air guitar" or having to grab a broom or a real skinny chick.
all of those kids that think they can play guitar is pissin me of now. and now my son is telling me that all of the good music he listens to is considered a joke because it was on guitar hero.
ITS THE DOWN FALL!!
Neither.
It's creating a group of kids who think they're cool for being able to play an amazing song on five little buttons instead of a real guitar, and a bunch of poser-fans for fantastic bands.
"Oh, I love Guns N' Roses!"
"What's your favorite song?"
"Welcome to the Jungle"
"What other songs do you like?"
*Silence*
(Can be interchanged with any band/song in Guitar Hero)
Pisses me off.
Agree w/ Kermit. It's not the downfall of rock....but I sure hope it ain't the evolution.
Doubt it. Like I said yesterday- the popularity of these games have just about reached their peak. Won't be long before everyone burns out on them %26amp; it'll be on to the next trend.
Neither--Guitar Hero is a disgrace to REAL music fans.
I mean, Guitar Hero basically tells anyone who plays it that only metal (other than a few songs) is all that a good guitarist can play.
Where's Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Brad Paisley, Wes Montgomery, Django Reinhardt and all the forgotten guitarists? Honestly, Guitar Hero should open people up to the great guitarists of each genre--not just rock along with only like one blues guitarist, which is SRV.
Oh, and Guitar Hero is making it so people think that learning how to play a real guitar is pointless, when there's a game that "simulates" it.

How many of you have some hearing loss due to good ole rock and roll concerts?
Which concert reeeaaally sent you home deaf? How many of you have some hearing loss due to good ole rock and roll concerts?
After seeing over 100 concerts of different types, the one group that sent me home with my ears bleeding was "Molly Hatchet". Second runners up: Aerosmith with Ted Nugent warming up. Honorable mention: KISS with WASP warming up. It's actually quite amazing that I can hear at all considering.
PARDON??How many of you have some hearing loss due to good ole rock and roll concerts?
Yes I have had hearing loss. It was either Kenny Wayne Shepperd or Lynyrd Skynrd.
The memories last a lot longer than the ringing in my ears, trust me.
The most recent one I probably lost to was Modest Mouse. How many of you have some hearing loss due to good ole rock and roll concerts?
I don't remember the name of the groups, but the worst was this jam band show I saw at a club. We stood right up next to the speakers because it wasn't crowded up there, and then I couldn't hear the next day.
Last year I saw The Who, we were really close to the speakers (good balcony seats). They put the speakers really high up above the stage because Pete Townshend has already gone so deaf, so they were kind of right in our faces up there.sonic electronix

What band or bands would you nominate to be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year?
Remember, they have to have been playing at least 25 years ago (or is it 20?).What band or bands would you nominate to be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year?
-Rush
-Yes
-Genesis
Progressive rock bands (and fans as well) have been given the shaft when it comes to recognition by the "mainstream" corporate rock world.
Shorter songs for shorter attention spans. Nothing like The Industry pandering to simplicity.
Jethro Tull
Mike Oldfield
Stevie Nicks
{I know Fleetwood Mac are already in there, but Stevie has had a just as succesful solo career}
There are likely quite a few I'm neglecting but there are two groups whose omission really stands out in a bad way. Yes, it is 25.
Cheap Trick
RushWhat band or bands would you nominate to be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year?
Donovan
Paul Revere %26amp; the Raiders

Well, all the prog rock fans will know they've been strangely ignored for years now.

Nirvana
(they formed in 1987 and were a revolutionary band in the early 1990s)
B-52s
New Order
The Cure
The Smiths
Depeche Mode
ELO, its crazy that they aren't in. And honestly, they might be a guilty pleasure but everyone knows a few songs by Chicago, they definately deserve to be in, especially now when the Hall is starting to grasp at straws for membership.
Bob Seger

Will Hall and Oates get into the rock and roll hall of fame?
Hall and Oates together foreverWill Hall and Oates get into the rock and roll hall of fame?
I do hope so, they are still awesome.
In total they have scored thirty-four hit singles on the US Billboard Hot 100.
As of 2006, Hall and Oates have seven RIAA platinum albums along with six RIAA gold albums.
These stats alone should get them a place in the Hall!
2007 Inductees
Congratulations to the 2007 inductees!
The twenty-second annual induction ceremony will take place at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City on March 12, 2007.
The Inductees
The Halls' website has
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five
R.E.M.
The Ronettes
Patti Smith
Van Halen listed for 2007 inductees.
Maybe next year for John and Warren.
Thank you Windsorcantrain.
I think it's criminal that they've been passed over since 1997 when they were first eligible. They are however, in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
I think so they were good enough I feel. They had some cool tunesWill Hall and Oates get into the rock and roll hall of fame?
Not until Fabian makes it
they should I'm not a fan but they were part of the that 80's sound and pop-culture, that people still listen to. I think they even still perform with some new songs like Sting and the guy from Men at Work do.
They really deserve it. I think Madonna will probably go in this year.

Do you see a connection between rock and roll, women wearing pants, and abortion?
This man apparently does.
http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Womens%20鈥?/a>
I disagree with him on many counts. WBU?Do you see a connection between rock and roll, women wearing pants, and abortion?
I love when ignorant fools read one thing and say it means something else. The bible may teach women to dress modestly, but the bible doesn't define modesty. It gives room for our own interpretation of modesty, a concept which is fluid and changes through time. This individual reads the bible which says women must dress modstly, in HIS view wearing pants is not modest, so then he combines the two and says that the bible forbids women to wear pants. The first two sentences of this clown's website have already convinced me of his ignorance.
He actually goes on to say explicitly that it is *his opinion* that wearing pants is not modest. Who the hell is he that his opinion should define the interpretation of the bible?
that site is sick.
what makes a skirt more modest than covered legs?
and what about christian rock? (rock and roll with BS for lyrics)
everyone knows that many of the musicians are hired for their musical talent and aren't religious at all.
And if they are performing for god, why do they charge such outlandish ticket prices?
Abortion? how many have died in holy wars? how many died when it rained for 40 days and nights? God killed all those living and all those who would have come from those he drowned.
If god gave people the right to choose, why do Christians want to take away what god has given?
"What God hath given, Christians taketh away""Do you see a connection between rock and roll, women wearing pants, and abortion?
MAYBE...
Women didn't always have the pleasure of doing what they wanted and having much of a voice.
So nowadays, they have more freedom to do as they please and not be outcast (as much) by society.
But abortions were going on even before women started wearing pants and listening to rock and roll.
Certain wacko religious groups are preoccupied with all three.
That site is so bad it's hilarious. I love how he reaches the conclusion that it's somehow MY fault if my jeans cause another person to lust after me sexually. I can't wait until those generations die out...
Yes, pants, oh my god the horror.
Good grief, a dress could blow up in the wind and reveal all, but pants, covering fully down to the feet, isn't modest enough somehow... wtf. (Even men didn't have pants at one time, so what the hell.)
I see a connection between all things that have happened on Earth. Specifically, that they happened on Earth.

rock and roll, and abortion were caused by drugs.

Hot patootie bless my soul do you really love that rock and roll?
But February made me shiver, with every paper I'd deliver. Bad news on the door step. I couldn't take one more step. But I knew if I had my chance I could make those people dance...if only for a moment...
...I was a teenage rockin' buck with a pink carnation and a pick up truck. Man I knew I was outta luck...the day...the music died.
I started singin' bye bye Miss American Pie. Drove my Chevy to the levy but the levy was dry. And good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye the day the music died.
Don McClean - American PieHot patootie bless my soul do you really love that rock and roll?
Whatever happened to Saturday night?
When you dressed up sharp and you felt all right
It don't seem the same since cosmic light
Came into my life, I thought I was divine
I used to go for a ride with a chick who'd go
And listen to the music on the radio
A saxophone was blowing on a Rock and Roll showHot patootie bless my soul do you really love that rock and roll?
Good choice.

Yes they certainly did. Also Electric Light Orchestra, Nick Drake, and Jethro Tull. Supertramp too I might add.Did the Moody Blues get snubbed again by the rock and roll hall of fame?

It was a nice dance tune that came out in the late 70's or early 80's. I only remember one verse and it went..."Work that body magically now." There was also a chant that went..."Whaoo, Whaoo, Whaooo!"Who sung a song called "Rock, Rock and Roll"? It was a dance tune in the early 80's.?

Maybe you should have phrased the question, "Besides the Beatles, what music group would you consider the best rock and roll band."
Anyway, you'll get dozens of different replies. Since you asked specifically for "rock and roll band," I'll say Kiss.
Absolutely, 100%, hands down, U2.

Does it have to have guitars to be considered Rock n' Roll?
I understand Doo-Wop doesn't, and a capela also does not, but for the most part, true rock and roll has at least one guitar. Right or wrong? Your thoughts..Does it have to have guitars to be considered Rock n' Roll?
Rock n Roll is a place, Rock n roll is a state of mind.Does it have to have guitars to be considered Rock n' Roll?
Thanks! But 1 star? You no likey my Mighty Boosh reference? :( Yeah, it's getting old.

How to achieve "rock & roll" tones from the electric guitar.?
My electric guitar sounds like an electric, acoustic guitar. I wanted to learn how to play great rock and roll songs, but I have no idea how to alter the sound through the amp so it sounds cooler. How to achieve "rock %26amp; roll" tones from the electric guitar.?
Get a Zoom 505 pedal. It`s got all kinds of sounds and you can dial in pretty much any sound of guitar you like. Around $115.00 bucks but well worth it and you can get the Dimebag type sound or a Stevie Ray Vaughn sound or clean. It`s great and any guitar store should have them. Has delay, Flanger, all kinds of stuff in one pedal. Also depends on your pickups and tune your guitar down a half step to a whole. Also use 10 or 11 gauge strings.
just play around with the amp settings. or try getting a distortion petal, which most rock player do. =]How to achieve "rock %26amp; roll" tones from the electric guitar.?
is there a drive select switch on your amp if you press that it normally gives you a stronger sound
if your amp has a gain or distortion dial, turn it up. If it doesn't, go and buy a good distortion effects pedal. I'd reccommend an Ibanez Tube Screamer. It is one of the classic effects. You can get one for about $80 to $90 at just about any music store. How to achieve "rock %26amp; roll" tones from the electric guitar.?

You need distortion effects. Does your amp have an overdrive on it? That's a start.
Beyond that, there are pedals and various other effects devices that can do all sorts of stuff. There are even some now that are designed to make a guitar sound specifically like a famous guitarist. For instance, you can buy the Jimi Hendrix model.
And there's no reason why you would have to use just one effect. You could put two or more in line. Try different combinations.
Check musiciansfriend.com
Scope the EQ (the knobs that say "High" "Mid" and "Low") turn the knowbs so the Highs and the lows are higher than the Mids are.
CRANK THE GAIN KNOB!!!! Always important.
You might want to look into buying some effeects pedals specifically distortion pedals. I would suggest one of the Boss or Ibanez pedals. The Boss DS-1 distortion is pretty darn standard but they make a variety specifically for blues to rock to metal. Ibanez has a great pedal called the Tube screamer that is used by millions of guitarists around the world. Everyone from Stevie Ray Vaughn to the guitarist from Killswitch Engage has/uses one.
If you want that classic rock guitar solo sound you might want to get a Fuzz pedal not a distortion pedal. The Elctro Harmonix "Big Muff Pi" is one of the best Fuzz pedal to ever exist. It has been on countless recordings and is used by people like Santana and The Mud Honeys. I personally love this pedal more than life it self. I use it evertime I pick up my instrument (Bass guitar).

If your pastor criticizes rock and roll, are you going to shake gravel and travel to another church?
I would definitely get in my car and take the Lost Highway to another place. After all Who Says You Can't Go Home? And isn't church a spiritual home for you? If you do the church thing, Keep The Faith, but find a church with a pastor that suits you. A church or a pastor isn't a Bed Of Roses. And if you like rock but need to be Livin' On A Prayer, you should leave. It's your life just as It's My Life so you have to do what you feel is best for you. Your pastor should be concerned about you and say, "I'll Be There For You." It's not just about One Wild Night after all; it concerns eternity and that means Always.
Have A Nice Day and best regards, Captain Crash And The Beauty Queen From Mars.If your pastor criticizes rock and roll, are you going to shake gravel and travel to another church?
I don't like to be in a old fashion church that keeps playing that old time music. When I was in my teens, I went to this church, that played old music. I went there for 6 months and then went to another church. ( I am in my 20's now )
This church had updated music, it came alive and was moving in the right direction. The church started out with 700 members and in 2 years it increased to 2,000 members. The pastor opened another church.
See, some pastor, just don't want to grow or change. They feel that changes will bring in more people and new rules.
If you need to broke out from where you are, pray about it.
If he is voicing his criticism in a way that is consistent with the churches belief system, and you are unhappy with this aspect of belief, then you may want to change more that just the location at which you worship, however, if this criticism is the result of some personal belief of his, then yes, I would change churches. A religious leader has no right to inject his personal bias into a house of worship, no matter the religion. If your pastor criticizes rock and roll, are you going to shake gravel and travel to another church?
Depends on the rock and roll. I might agree with him. Some isn't appropriate for a Christian to listen to. Has nothing to do with sound and everything to do with content.
Personally I'm about to gag on all the contemporary Christian worship songs I hear at church events. Give me some Demon Hunter, Kutless, Kronicles, As I Lay Dying, etc, etc, etc. Something that lets you know you're alive.
Why would anyone criticize a creative art form? Pastors don't criticize creativity. You're living in a Way-Back Machine set to the 1950s.If your pastor criticizes rock and roll, are you going to shake gravel and travel to another church?
No i'll stay at the one I'm at and I would agree with the pastor. Rock is a bad influence.
i used to feel guilty about my music. until i abandoned my belief in mormonism.
Thankfully, at my church we worship to loud Christian music! its so fun and the louder the better!
I'll do anything you tell me to do cousin eddy
LOL I am free of that.

Who are the greatest guitarists in rock and roll history?
I'd really appreciate some thoughtful, well thought out answers here. Personal preference is great but I'd appreciate it if you could back it up with a logical arguement.
Thanks.Who are the greatest guitarists in rock and roll history?
Jimi Hendrix was a rebel, and a natural, eveything he did came from the gut..he had it all and lost it all, he was used and abused but his playing remains, one of a kind ..nobody could ever play Bright lights big city like he did, not even the guy who wrote it....
Michael Schenker probably one of the most underrated guitarists ever, but what talent this man has.. he can play anything he wants..from the Scorps days to UFO, to MSG, to his acoustic albums and his electric stuff simply amazing, from blues to metal..
Robert Fripp I have no words to begin describing how valueable his imput has, is and will always be for prog rock and any guitarists in general looking forward to expand their horizons..thanx Rob for your frippertronics! and no I still dont fully understand Alan Holdsworth lol
Randy Rhoads too sad we lost him so soon, but he still is one of my faves despite his short carreer, neoclassicl oriented, he was before his time...
Yngwie Malmsteen this swedish virtuoso understands neoclassical and classical music like very few..amazing technique and a non existent sense of humor.."I am a Viking Im going out to war"
Steve Hackett former Genesis guitarist, what can I say about the man who actually invented the finger tapping technique, NO it was not Eddie Van Halen, Eddie went to a Genesis concert when he was very young and saw Mr Hackett doing that strange weird tapping thing on the fretboard, he totally freaked out and practice like crazy, and then he made it famous..from Genesis, his solo carreer, his acoustic work is sublime, one of the very few to record with the London Philarmonic Orchestra..a man of too many faces and they're all good ...check out Sketches of Satie a transcription from piano to guitar and flute (his borther John plays the flute) this album is a treasure...
Ritchie Blackmore another neoclassical oriented guitarist, he actually loved to play around with different modes and scales, he was definetely always looking for answers..and he found quite a few and regaled us with some of the most impressive solos with DP and Rainbow ..hes now playing medieval music..he is that special and talented
Gary Moore the man with the golden tone, if theres a white man besides Slowhand that can play the blues is Mr. Moore he was already a guitar hero in Thin Lizzy but his solo stuff is simply amazing, I wish I could get this tone for 5 minutes.. try "still got the blues" album
Stevie Ray V ok this is the american version of white man who could play the blues and jimi's stuff like no other ...
Eric Clapton... with John Mayall he took my breath away with "Rambling on my mind" with Power trio Cream he proved that 3 guys were more than enough to make one of the best albums in rock history "Disraeli Gears" is a jewel, with Blind Faith ..well we can go on forever...
B B King of blues living legend..
David Girmour the man in charge of replacing the genious of Syd Barrett..well he could never get a note out of a Danelectro, but has been responsible for some of the most dreamy, tripy and wonderfully executed solos..Animals is a guitarcraft...
Al DiMeola he doesnt cease to amaze me...(not rock and roll but every rock guitarist look at this guy as one guitar God thats why he's part of this list) specially when he started playing Piazzolla in a DiMeola fashion, that alone is one of the biggest achievements for a guitarists, transcribe music that was written for Bandoneon.. Genious!!!
Steve Vai well try to put a tag on this guy if you dare, he has no definite style at all, thats what makes him so ALIEN, gotta love it!
Mike Stern he will always be Miles Davis golden boy, he was already a virtuoso back then when Miles took him under his wing, he was sucha young guy back then and got to play with the great Miles, he made a wonderful cover of Hendrix, remember? a full jazz guitarist doing Hendrix WOW..he does some rock besides jazz thats why he belongs to this list as well.. he is so good that can make you sick lol
Pat Metheny some of the most thoughtful jazz melodies came out from this amazing artist, hes not just a guitarist, he's one of the most respected names in jazz worldwide..and very well deserved, to me Pat is in a league of his own without a doubt..not a rock guitarist, but some famous rock guitarist listen and study his music patterns, highly recommended
Jason Becker talent is an understatement, He was borned with such a gift its scary, but unfortunately he was robbed of the most precious thing, his Health, and couldnt play anymore, his solo album "perpetual burn" and his work with Marty Friedman in Cacophony are truly impressive..
Jeff Beck what a sound, tone, I would cite "Blow by Blow"
I dont think Jeff is aware of his influence on most guitar players, but his style which was not a definite one has created a lot of controversy along the years.. always changing and evolving.
And last but not least Frank Zappa..the most incredible weirdo in this freaking world, his music can make you laugh and cry at the same time, another one that was in a world of his own..too many good albums to mention, just pick anything with Terry Bozzio in it and you wont be able to sleep for days...totally histerical
please excuse my long post, but its so hard to choose just 2 or 3 guitarist with so much talent out there, dead and alive..they all count, music is timeless..
carlos santana and jimi hendrixWho are the greatest guitarists in rock and roll history?
cc deville
billy joe armstrong and mike dirntWho are the greatest guitarists in rock and roll history?
Jimi Hendrix
Eddy Van Halen, close second.
JIMI HENDRIX, ALL THE WAY!!!
Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton...
Jimmie Hendrix.
Innovative, one of a kind, mesmerizing.
hendrix, stevie ray vaughn, hendrix was first to do what he did, i saw him once. played like it was on fire. played with his mouth. effortless and intricate. like making love. stevie ray is technical perfection and incredible fingering. great classic blues riffs. again effortless but intricate.
Eric Clapton %26amp; Carlos Santana are greatly admired by musicians, and both have such distinctive sounds.
this is easy and barely needs explaining. SLASH (Guns N Roses) he is awesome!!! he i think is the best ever! in all of history course there are alot of other guitarists who rock too but no one will ever be like him. and Well my second choice would be Synyster Gates (Avenged Sevenfold) he is like awesome and like i said there are many other ones too those are just two. No one can play EXACTLY like Slash can. no one.... but Synyster Gates is great too tho!
Michael Schenker
Rory Gallagher
Alvin Lee
Pete Townshend
David Gilmour
Randy Rhoads
Angus Young
hendrix,elvis ,mike love,frampton
TED NUGENT , then Clapton , Jeff Beck , and others , including Ace Frehley , Jimmy Page . Santana , Hendrix
Argument? Well, Neil Young has been inducted into the R%26amp;R Hall of Fame 3 times, Buffalo Springfield, CSNY and himself with Crazy Horse.
But Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick is not in the R%26amp;R Hall of Fame, so what the hell do they know? He has been playing with Cheap Trick for more than 30 years, that must count for something. Kurt Cobain said, Nirvana sounds just like Cheap Trick, only the guitars are louder.
I would say Randy Rhodes, Eric Clapton, and Eddie Van Halen
kiko lauriano and michael angelo batio... please just download their videos from morpheus.com or limewire.com and you will see some of the most extreme guitar work I have ever seen... they are up there with the likes of eric johnson or if you like speed then Malmsteen is also a person who you also can have a strong argument for... but watching Michael Angelo Batio play both right and left handed at the same time made him I think one of the best I have ever seen...
jimi hendrix broke down barriers and changed rock and roll
stevie ray vaughn is way faster though, and has some cool songs
and prince is dirt mcgirt, in his own way
but if you're looking for a ridic acoustic guitarist, you need not look further than john butler.
Jimi Hendrix, Robert Fripp and Jimmy Page
Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix are the first two that come to mind.
Not versed enough in the topic to give logial arguments
Stevie ray Vaughn
Neil Young
Slash
Eddie Van Halen
Jimi Hendrix
Alvin Lee
all are personal preferences, but why would I listen to and remember someone who wasn't great (unless I liked the band as a whole). what I mean to say is, if I listened to them %26amp; thought they were great, doesn't it follow that they would become personal preferences? That's my logical argument.
In no particular order here are the BEST!!!
1) Paul Satriani
2) Steve Vai
3) Jimi Hendrix
4) Stevie Ray Vaughan
5) Eddie Van Halen
6) Nuno bettencourt (Extreme)
7) John Pettruci (Dream Theater)
8) Chris Degarmo (Queensryche)
9) Kenny Wayne Shephard
10) Pete Townsend (The Who)
Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Garcia, John Lennon, Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughn...I don't need to argue any points about these great artists...the only thing I can say as a personal reference is...they are all in leagues of their own.....Legends!!!!
The top 15 according to a Rolling Stones Poll, which was extremely controversial at the time....
1Jimi Hendrix
2 Duane Allman of the Allman Brothers Band
3 B.B. King
4 Eric Clapton
5 Robert Johnson
6 Chuck Berry
7 Stevie Ray Vaughan
8 Ry Cooder
9 Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin
10 Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones
11Kirk Hammett of Metallica
12 Kurt Cobain of Nirvana
13 Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead
14 Jeff Beck
15 Carlos Santana
Way too many to even think about naming one the best. But fairly I'd have to say Jimi Hendrix. He could play guitars upside down backwards and with a few parts of his body. There is no question that he had amazing talent.
Angus Young comes to mind too but that could just be because I loved AC/DC so much. I can't say much for him besides that he was just really good and played great even while he was spazzing out all over the stage in his school boy uniform.
Oh man, I just remembered Jimmy Page. I'm sure you've heard Zeppelin, I shouldn't have to explain. Although in case you've never seen it, during at least their song Dazed and Confused he could play it like a mad man with a bow for a violin. That's a sight to see.
Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Carlos Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eddie Van Halen, Duane Allman, Dicky Betts, Ry Cooder. Each has his signature style and has stood the test of time. Also have great admiration for a number of others mentioned in this thread, but have to make a special mention of George Harrison (John Lennon wasn't the best guitarist in the Beatles).
jimi hendrix
Jimi Hendrix- was %26amp; always will be in a class by himself.
Rory Gallagher- perfect blend of speed, feel %26amp; finesse %26amp; gawd could he play the blues.
Robert Fripp- see Hendrix, no other like him.
Link Wray - listen to metal %26amp; listen to "Rumble", nuff said.
Tony Iommi- listen to the spiraling leads that 90% of all metal guitarists play, they're all doing him.
Eric Clapton- the "Slowhand" thing's gotten old but still an incredible player on those rare occaisions when he wakes up.
They Also Serve (Personal Preference Section)
Beck, Page, John Petrucci, Tony McPhee, Kim Simmonds, Martin Pugh, Zakk Wylde, and a pretty fair country guitar player named Keith Richard.
28 answers and not 1 mention of Frank Zappa. ******* pathetic.
Chuck Berry:almost single-handidly invented r%26amp;r guitar playing
Segovia: classical guitar maestro
B.B. King: quinisential blues guitar player
Hendrix: obvious
EVH: also obvious
Brian May:great sound
Rik Emmit: good classically-influenced rock guitarist
could go on forever...

What is The Biggest Influence Of Rock and Roll in the 60's and 70's?
In Your Own opinion!!!!What is The Biggest Influence Of Rock and Roll in the 60's and 70's?
LSD
Okay , you didn't ask who was the biggest bands or who was the most popular bands or who sold the most albums etc. etc. . You asked WHAT is the biggest influence of rock and roll in the 60s and 70s . From Clapton to Jimmie Page to Jeff Beck to Robert Plant to Mick Jagger to George Harrison to Hendrix to Morrison (Jim) to multitudes of musicians , singers and writers most of that era give credit of their inspiration to black American delta blues musicians such as Lead Belly , Muddy Waters and blues greats of that genre who were well established in their musical style in the 40s .What is The Biggest Influence Of Rock and Roll in the 60's and 70's?
If you start in the 60's, you can't draw a breath without mentioning The Beatles somewhere as their sound was widely copied, they were a huge influence on music of the time. Led Zep made their mark as well, and then you had a bunch of bands trying to imitate that sound. While hugely popular, Hendrix, due to his limited time as an artist, IMO had somewhat less of an impact, although his music is timeless. The last great influence of the 70's would have to be Van Halen. Edward managed to take a technical attack to the guitar, while still maintaining an incredible tone and his style has been copied so many times it's almost maddening.
The Blues was the biggest influence on the early rock and roll stars. Elvis, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin were inspired by the blues and have even been accused of stealing from them. The Beatles were very heavily influenced by Chuck Berry, and covered several of his tunes. Without The Blues, there would be no Rock and Roll. What is The Biggest Influence Of Rock and Roll in the 60's and 70's?
i'd say jazz and blues (u know... chuck barry and bb king) and then the bealtes kinda mixed styles and then well les zeppelin and rolling stones kindaa took it to a new level... i think psychedelic was also very influential like pink floyd, the doors, and velvet underground... although a lot of people dont see it, I think david bowie had a lot to do with the style he was there for a lot of time and always in scene... btw i like ur hippie bandana on the profile pic
