Outline the roots and history of rock and roll from 1950's to 1960's?

Does this question mean I should produce an organizational outline? Or is there another type of outline used to answer a chronological question? How do I structure my answer in an outline to answer this question? I know the content of the answer just not the way to organize it.Outline the roots and history of rock and roll from 1950's to 1960's?
When bill haley's Rock Around the Clock hit the cinrmas it caused mayhem. Some cinemas refused to show it,beause of the effect it had on young people. Then came Chubby Checker,Fats Domino,Little Richard etc and of course Elvis. Then the Beatles arrived and the rest is history
I don't think outline is to be taken literally. Think in terms of themes rather than specific events or personalities. What influenced 50's music? Gospel, Blues, teenagers as a demographic, etc. The history requested, that's the detail part. I think a traditionally structured essay gets it done here. Good luck.Outline the roots and history of rock and roll from 1950's to 1960's?
Sounds chronological.
Well Rock and Roll actually can trace it's origins to the Church and Gospel Music which in turn inspired Jazz which brought forth the developement of Rockabilly and Rock and Roll.

Can't tell you specifically what Years these took place. It just basically progressed in that order.Outline the roots and history of rock and roll from 1950's to 1960's?
The only way I could figure to chart this would be to chart the influence of various precursors of rock and roll (jazz, chicago blues, delta blues, folk, bluegrass, country, gospel, white church music etc). Then list various artists in chronological order and run arrows to who or what influenced them.

For example, Chuck Berry was influenced by Chicago Blues and Louis Jordan (jazz %26amp; blues). Beatles were influenced by Berry, Eddie Cochran (country), etc. Oasis were influenced by Beatles
