Buddy Holly
Elvis
Jerry Lee Lewis
Chuck Berry
plus Little Richard and Carl Perkins rock pretty hard too.
Great Balls Of Fire - Jerry Lee Lewis
Also as sung by Maverick %26amp; Goose.
Have a look at Eddie Cochran (late 1950's). Twenty flight rock etc.
Nobody's said Link Wray yet, so I will:
Link Wray
There we go.
I would also look for the Hip-O Records "Rockabilly Essentials" collection, or any of the Sun Records compilations for their artists (Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc.)
Depends on what kind you like.
For the wild unsophisticated stuff, then more or less anything of the SUN catalogue.
There was the likes of Jerry Lee,Gene Vincent Roy Orbison Johnny Cash Ray Smith Carl Perkins.
A bit more sophisticated would be the likes of Ricky Nelson or Elvis.
Little Richard,Eddie Cochran,Gene Vincent,Fats Domino all made great stuff.
That's without touching the Doo Wop groups
Buddy Holly, I'd go for. If you'll stretch to a bit of doo-wop, then Del Shannon, Frankie Lymon, and the Four Seasons are all worth a go.
Elvis, Fats Domino, Bill Haley and the Comets, Buddy Holly, there are a bunch.
This is the first recognized rock and roll song ever made. It's Ike Turner and some other guys. Rocket 88.
