Why is rock and roll dying?

people are starting to think of the jonas brothers and hannah montanah as rock and roll. why is this happening?|||Reasons for bands like Jonas Brothers would probably be things like huge endorsements from the Disney Channel, which attracts most people under the age of 10ish. Because this is the music all the 8-10 year olds will be listening to, it will follow them, meaning the next generation of music is going to be based around this. But that doesn't mean it's really taking over. Although music is being tainted by bands like this, music is also becoming more diverse, meaning that even though alot of kids will be listening to this, there are still alot of other genres of music out there. My observations of music trends are this...

-Older rock is coming back, bands like ACDC, Metallica, Aerosmith, even The Who, etc. are coming back in popularity.

-Old school rap (the good kind) is dead, has been for a while.

-New rap (the bad kind based mainly around money and sex) is pretty big.

-Metal is coming in, with bands like All That Remains and Bullet for my Valentine (I suppose scremo is a better term)

-Techno is coming back, being used in a variety of bands; I Set My Friends On Fire, Metrostation, Cobra Starship...

-Bands like Jonas brothers are becoming bigger, but only by the younger sort, meaning unless you are around the age of 8, you shouldn't have to worry about your peers liking it.

-Emo/Alternative music has been big for a while, and is holding up quite well. Emo and alternative are both in the same thing, because they actually are quite similar. Bands like My Chemical Romance has songs similar to The Killers. AFI has songs similar to Linkin Park, Panic! at the Disco have songs similar to Muse, Fall Out Boy has songs similar to Rise Against, etc.

-Punk is making a slight comeback, but it seems that most people who say they listen to punk don't really know what it is.

-Country is coming back, especially with bands like Taylor Swift and Rascall Flats.

Many of these trends apply to people mainly ages 12-2oish I'd say.

Really, music isn't dying anymore, just more music is being introduced, making it seem like its dying. For example, say music is 50% rock and 50% rap. Now you introduce country, and it is 33% country, 33% rock, and 33% rap, making rock go from 50%, to 33%, to 25%, etc.|||Yeah sadly rock isn't as apreciated as it used to be. But there's still some real rock out there, you just got to know where to look. And the people who think the jonas brothers and hannah montana is rock, there just kids really. They don't know.

Just keep listenin to it rock is definetly still alive, and trust me it will never die.|||Because music evolves and so many bands are trying to go to extremes. Bands always take the music that initially inspired them and take it a step further. Each generation gets further away from the original. Jonas bros and HM are definately NOT Rock! There are still new bands coming out with good rock music.

People still listen to classical music, jazz, oldies, etc. Those r some old genres, but they're still being listened to.

I agree though. There is very little good new rock music (there is some though).|||I know.. But it will never die. Everything else has died. Rock and roll will last forever. But in hannah montanas case people are as thick as

2 million bricks to think that's rock and roll and that's not our problem.|||It's just Rock in America that's dying, and in My opinion America is dying, so it makes sense. Rock and Metal and whatnot is fine in Europe.|||Rock will never die! As long as theres still a group of people that listen to rock it wont die. I try to play rock songs for all my friends who only like mainstream crap and they are starting to like better bands then before.|||Well, only the new generation of life thinks that.

my grandfather thinks hannah montana is garbage.

so do i :P

But. it`ll never die. just keep listenin to it, and spread the word.|||well it's not really. As long as there are loyal RnR fans out there, it will never die. \m/(^_^)\m/|||No! Rock is evolving. Also most people know that those "creatures" are not rock. It may not be going the best right now but hopefully it will go back to being amazing soon enough.|||God knows man. As long as the underground is well and alive rock n roll will never die. As long as people have hopes and aspirations to put out good music instead making money nothing really dies.|||You only think this because popular cultures definition of rock and roll sucks. You have to seek out music.|||Same reason decent sound has given way to mp3's, hardly anybody cares anymore!|||becuz back den was crazier now all songs r just about love and shi.t so just listen to what U like and keep listening to it.|||Whoever thinks that is usually 10 or tone deaf|||Are you kidding?

Rock and Roll has just been born in my world, baby!|||thats pop bro
