When the Beatles came to the States, it was right after the JFK assassination. Americans needed something to pick them up, which is part of the reason they became so popular. To top it off, their music was upbeat and something that no one had heard yet. Americans had mostly black musicians, and rock n roll was pretty much a style of blues. The Beatles brought a new style of rock.
Also, with the Beatles long haircuts and smoking habits and whatnot, rebellious. teens often felt connected to the group. They indirectly taught kids how to dress and act.
SO... the main point is that they brought a whole new style, and they began the British Invasion, which brought other rock groups such as The Rolling Stones (often teens recognized themselves as a Stones or a Beatles fan), The Who, etc.
:)|||im not doing your ******* report for you, do it yourself|||Just google it comrade|||The Beatles..R%26amp;R?
R%26amp;R originated U.S in early 50's|||That's a myth perpetuated by fans of the British Invasion. American Rock 'n Roll was doing perfectly fine before the "FAD" Four showed up. The Beatles didn't affect Rock 'n Rolll so much as they affected "Pop Music" that was being played for teenyboppers on the radio. Beatle people like to contend that the scene was dead from about the time that Elvis went into the Army in '58 until the Beatles appeared un Ed Sullivan. That's sooo wrong. Look at this list of kick-@ss North American artists that were making awesome music in the late 50's and early 60's prior to the Beatles' big US debut. ALL of them are better than the Beatles:
Bo Diddley
Little Richard
Chuck Berry
Buddy Holly
Rirchie Valens
Roy Orbison
Ronnie Hawkins and The Hawks
Carl Perkins
Chet Atkins
Bob Dylan
B.B. King
Joan Baez
Gene Vincent
Johnny Cash
John Lee Hooker
Del Shannon
Ray Charles
Eddie Cochran
Beach Boys
Booker T. and The MG's
The Isley Brothers
Jerry Lee Lewis
Ben E. King
The Big Bopper
I'm sure there are several more that I'm forgetting.
Reject the premise of your teacher and write a report on how its just urban legend that the Beatles were such game-changers. Dont believe the BS... American Rock is superior to the British art form in every way.|||Rock n roll never left america. The Beatles were a young good looking pop band when they arrived on the scene. To me I call there early years their 'Boy Band" stage. They were a band that corporate america could get behind and your mom would let you listen to. It was until they started experimenting with marijuana -around "rubber Soul" that their music had any substance.
I love the the who, the stones, the kinks, and the beatles and british bands have always pushed the envelope when it comes to their music. They like the us artist embraced the blues and made it there own. I think the the brits have always been more open to styles. Peter Tosh was signed to a record deal by the stones. Eric clapton met with bob marley and decided to cover "I shot the sheriff" effectively giving life to a global phenomenon.
My contention is that the beatles or the brits didn't bring it back they made it better. They pushed the envelope and american bands had to keep up. And they did.|||obviouly your not a Beatles fan if you dont know this... listen to their music and actualy research them.... if you where smart youd know that they are actusly worth researching.|||by not caring too much for money, 'cos they knew money could'nt by them love =)
