What do you think about that rock and roll music that today's kids enjoy so much?

I am today's kids. But my dad also enjoys it and knows it better than anyone I know. And we are Christians. I don't stand for what the rock artists do, but there's nothing inherently wrong with the genre...nothing like "It has a beat that goes against the human heartbeat," which I actually have heard before.

What do you think about it? I think that all music is incredibly powerful and should be used for good. I am a musical person, and music, especially music with real rhythm to it, reaches into a part of me that words can never touch. That's why people are so susceptible to lyrics. Because the music opens them up.

By the way, there have always been musicians who were looked at in the same way as rock musicians today. Some rumors I've heard: Tchaikovsky was a gay pedophile, Mozart pirated a symphony by remembering it note for note and writing it down later, Beethoven had an angry streak. When most of the changes in music happened, it was because somebody was bold enough to shift to a new style. Don't think for a moment that when the piano was introduced to music, it didn't shock and anger people like the drums did more recently. People get used to THEIR music. What kind do you listen/relate to?|||Rock and roll is over 60 years old. When I was born, 53 years ago, my parents were listening to Elvis, and they enjoyed shocking their parents with him. Then when I was a teenager, it was fun to scare my parents with David Bowie and Black Sabbath. I enjoyed it so much that next I got all punked out and did the worm. Since I've always lacked a proper sense of shame and never grew up I've always been able to enjoy what comes next, although it certainly lacks the sense of danger it used to have, except for rap music. Rap sounds dangerous still, as tradition demands. :)|||If you find the right rock I say it is about the best and most influential music out there. Such as a Marilyn Manson character. He is actually a very wise and intelligent guy. However people perceive him as evil. It is what the song is about not what is in the song.|||It's not nearly as good as it was in the 1950s and 1960s when I was listening to Chuck Berry, the Beatles, Motown and the Rolling Stones. I think it's gone downhill a lot, but then I'm not a kid anymore.

Why is this a "spiritual" question? Am I supposed to say something about rock and roll and the devil in response to your query?|||Music is amoral. It incites emotion, sure, but it's what the person does with that emotion that determines the moral value.

If I killed a gay because I heard a sermon about how homosexuality is a sin, would it make that sermon evil?|||Rock's the best

there is nothing like listening to some good music.

Rock has seen better days, we can listen back to the masters like Queen and the Ramones... ect ect

music is not bad unless you make it bad...

music is a type of art.|||I think it Rocks!

have you ever actually seen metalheads get in a fight or get in deep trouble its cause the rock music helps them do it for them.

I personally love rock music.|||I love it. Rock, metal, punk. It's all good.

If you think it's bad, listen to the alternative of it: rap.

You will be horrified.|||It saved my life. Amazing.

Btw noone uses the term "rock and roll"

I love extreme genre's like mathcore, deathcore, electrocore!|||It's not really about rock anymore it's more about Pop.

Seriously, where've you been?|||The most of the good musicians died young, and the other good musicians can get air play.|||I don't trust medicine, schooling or music. It makes their brains mushy.|||I think you're one of those people who think the world is going to end in your generation and are pessimistic about all the world's "sins"|||TRASH!! The 80's music was the best! At least they talked of LOVE and not saying the f and every other curse word every other lyric.|||That sounds like what someone would say in the 50s lol. Whats the matter, is Buddy Holly a little too hardcore for your tastes?|||I think it's not as good as the rock and roll music that I enjoyed when I was a kid.|||People stopped listening to "Rock and Roll" back in the 80's.

How old are you, mister?|||Odd question.

It's musik, it evokes emotion.|||Work of the devil, just like scientific advancement.

We must stop all the sinning lol.|||I like it?

Actually, I listen to more grunge and 60s-90s punk. But w/e.|||I think you're stuck in the 80's still buddy.|||Hi, I'm an atheist an I listen to Death metal.|||i think it is awesome
